IT’S HALLOWEEN weekend and what better way to spend it than watching DNA Pro Wrestling’s first show since the pandemic began.

This was my first time going to a DNA show. I was excited for it as I heard great things about the promotion. But did they live up to expectations?

Before the show began I noticed a few people in fancy dress as there was a Halloween fancy dress competition taking place the winner would receive two free tickets to DNAs next show in December.

There were some amazing outfits particularly from two people dressed as The Fiend and Sting respectively. For anyone wondering, no I did not dress up! Although I did wear a Halloween themed shirt to show I wasn’t a grouch and could participate in the theme of the show.

It was a purple/orange shirt covered in skulls. It looked great although from a distance it looked like I was going on holiday to Magaluf. Heidi Katrina loved it though!

Ring announcer Jessy opened the show introducing us to DNAs new authority figure, Marc Benson. I’ve known Jessy for two years and it’s great to see her as a ring announcer. Seeing how far she’s come in those two years has been amazing to witness.

Callum Newman vs Danny Black

I saw these two in action at Triumph Pro two weeks ago in separate matches and both didn’t disappoint! I couldn’t wait to see them wrestling together.

Callum goes for the handshake at the beginning but Danny falls for it and gets taken down. There was a point where Danny kicks out of a move at 2.9999 and a lot of people genuinely thought the match was over!

It was a great near fall. Callum got the win with a vicious knee strike. This was a fantastic match to start the show. Fast paced back and forth action from two evenly matched competitors. They had the crowd on their feet throughout.

Corey McRae vs CJ Carter vs Tim Lee

I’m actually part of Tim Lee’s Discord. We were having a conversation in the voice chat the night before and he said he was going to get his pizza cutter out to use as a weapon. Sadly that didn’t happen but imagine if it did!

Corey came out to a chorus of boos. He was the biggest heel of the night. Tim came out in fancy dress he was a sexy nurse mixed with the joker. Fair enough I guess...

There was plenty of action in and out of the ring. Tim dragged Corey to the bar where he performed some lethal chops to his chest. Corey even threatened to take the action outside!

Tim got the win after pinning Carter. All three wrestlers had excellent chemistry with each other and they played their characters very well. The match was so entertaining and the crowd were red hot for it. It was unpredictable throughout, who was going to win and not only was this a victory for Tim Lee but, based on his costume, a victory for the NHS. How symbolic!

Evie Madden vs Heidi Katrina

Both were wearing great Halloween makeup. I should point out the makeup was done by Amira Blair and her brand Kayface. She did a great job with it.

Katrina is a great arrogant heel working the crowd and wrestling at the same time. As the match progressed it got quite aggressive with both competitors performing stiff strikes to each other.

Heidi got the win in the end. This was a great showing from them both. These two are going to be big names in women’s wrestling someday.

Warren Banks vs Big F’n Joe

Before the match Joe called Warren Banks “Warren Wanks” which led the crowd to chant that! Warren was stalling during the match as he was getting out of the ring which led to heckles of “coward” and “pussy.”

Joe sat Warren down on a spare chair and ran from outside all the way to the ring! A very creative spot. The slaps Joe did on Warrens chest were so loud I could almost feel them myself. Joe picked up the win via a roll up.

Before the match I was honestly expecting Banks to win but having Joe win was the right decision as he is a staple in DNA. A great match from two people with different wrestling styles. They both worked well together.

It was time for the interval and I managed to get pictures with Big F’n Joe, Tim Lee and Heidi Katrina who complimented me on my shirt! There was also a raffle but I didn’t win anything so

let’s just move on shall we?

Franklin vs Damian

Unfortunately this is where some criticism will be taking place. This was an impromptu match at a big event which is quite a pet peeve of mine in wrestling.

I hoped the match would make up for it but it was pretty uneventful. Damian got the win in just a few minutes. I get that DNA were introducing us to two debutants but it didn’t sit right with me in my opinion.

They could’ve announced on social media weeks prior that Franklin will be issuing an open challenge which would lead to Damian coming out and winning. At least the crowd loved Franklin and his swig which he chugged during the match.

Forest Haze vs Tommy Kyle

After a minute or so of both competitors working the crowd and Forest talking to his teddy Mr Buggles, the match got underway. Tommy hit an amazing move from the top rope that looked like an RKO but Forest kicked out.

After more back and forth action Forest got the win. It was an entertaining match and a good showing from them both.

We then found out the winner of the fancy dress competition. The winner was a lady called Sam who I was sitting near. She was dressed as (in her words) a demon cat girl! She looked brilliant.

The Lads vs BDSM vs The Rebellion - DNA Tag Team Championship Match

Credit: DNA Pro Wrestling

The Lads got the best reaction of the night with their incredible aura and gimmick and of course, their flamingo!

Before the match Charles Crowley asked the crowd if they loved BDSM to which Alex Ecco replied by saying “I did it once with my uncle” I... I think he got the wrong...ah forget it.

This match was exactly what I wanted in a triple threat tornado tag, Chaotic and fast paced in and out of the ring. It had the crowd engulfed in everything. You didn’t know who was going to win.

The biggest moment was when there was about to be a top rope suplex but Clementine stopped it by slamming both men down which was incredible!

The Lads and BDSM had a good spot where it was counter after counter after counter. Fair play to Clementine who took some brutal bumps in the ring.

The Lads won the match continuing their run as DNA tag champs but it’s what happened post match that got people talking.

The Rebellion attacked BDSM and took the mic saying they should’ve been tag champions. As they were about to hit Crowley with a steel chair Clementine tried to make the save but to no avail. They piledrove her onto the steel chair standing tall with Clementine receiving medical attention.

The Lads attacked The Rebellion on the entrance ramp as Clementine was being treated. What an incredible angle to end the show!

Overall I thought this was a success and a great way for DNA to return. Most of the matches were great but my favourite was either the triple threat or the main event simply because of the chaotic nature of it all.

Jessy did a great job as the ring announcer and Amira did a great job with the makeup. The future is bright for DNA and I can’t wait to see what they do next.
