Catch Pro Wrestling: Coronation
The Union, Manchester
19/09/21

ARE WE in the midst of an EVOlution?

Catch Pro Wrestling returned to The Union for their third show CORONATION in front of a packed house. Let’s go through what went down and what I thought as a whole.

Pre Show Match-Lucia Lee vs Rayhne

The show opened with a singles match between the increasingly popular Lucia Lee and a new kid on the block in the form of Rayhne.

Before the show, it was outlined that both had something to prove during this. Lee was looking to bounce back from a loss suffered at the last show, Rayhne wanted to make an impact on what was her debut on English soil.

This was a nice little back and forth contest to ease the crowd into the show. Leg drops and bodyslams a plenty as the crowd were firmly behind Lucia and much to the delight of the crowd she toppled the dominant Rayhne to right the wrong after falling to Lizzy Evo the last time out.

This was something that had to be seen to be believed, balloons, party poppers and a singing scouser were all on the bill. Ahead of her title defence later in the night the self proclaimed ‘Scouse Goddess’ wanted to celebrate in style.

In front of the Manchester crowd, Evo came out in the football kit of her beloved Liverpool - singing their signature song You’ll Never Walk Alone.

This was all cut short though as Alexxis Falcon, Rhio and Clementine all stated their claim for a future shot at The Liverbird’s Catch Title.

Ivy vs Charlie Morgan vs Heidi Katrina

Ahead of the show I was looking forward to this one. All three women looked great here. My only gripe with this match was the short amount of time Katrina was in the contest as she was first to fall. But, we will see where she goes from here.

Charlie Morgan had just returned from injury so it was nice to see her in action properly again. Both her and Ivy put in a Stella shift and had a great match. Charlie Morgan picked up the win here much to my surprise.

I could watch Ivy all day. Bags of character, knows what she’s doing and is a real loudmouth.

This wasn’t the last we saw of the Queen Of The Monsters though, more on that later…

Charles Crowley Open Challenge

Crowley is by far one my favourite people to watch on the scene. If you haven’t seen him before go out of your way to have a look at the talent this guy has because he carries it in buckets.

His open challenge was answered by ‘Sexy Shooter’ Kev Lloyd. In what was a really fun match where Crowley picked up the win here.

Clementine vs Rhio

This was great, a real back forth contest here. Both put in a fantastic effort, With Rhio picking up the win.

Clementine was then attacked after the match By Ivy and to the shock of everyone her fellow Pretty Little Killers partner Ruby Radley. Very interested to see where they go from here with this.

Alexxis Falcon & JJ Webb vs Chantal Jordan & Chase Alexander

Short and sweet with this one. A really strong tag match here Webb and Falcon are perfect heels. Crowd were firmly behind Chantal and Chase. Despite this, Webb and Falcon rolled them up for the sneaky win.

It’s clear this is far from over.

Tom Thelwell vs Scotty Rawk

This was a showstealer for me. Flips and kicks a plenty and the added extra of Isaiah Quinn at ringside in Thellwels corner.

Following on from the last show Quinn recruited Tom as part of the Guiding Light Mentorship programme. Thellwel picked up the win here and seemed to join the dark side with Quinn.

MOTN contender.

Lykos Gym (Kid Lykos & Kid Lykos II) vs The Heritage (Dean Allmark & Jody Fleisch)

This was an amazing match following on the DQ victory back in July that’s exactly what it needed to be. This time with a No DQ stipulation, chairs, kendo sticks and baking trays were just a few of the weapons of choice.

In a match that went all over the venue Lykos Gym fell in defeat to The Heritage. Thanks in part, to Jesse Wolfe. How will this go on? Only time will tell!

Lizzy Evo (C) vs Myla Grace CATCH Women’s Championship

Main event time as Evo defends her newly won title against Myla Grace coming out of Ireland.

Although the crowd that much behind Grace this was a good match for the first defence on a CATCH show (Evo had previously put the title up for grabs at Wrestle Carnival and PCW before going on to put the gold on the line at CATCH 3).

After a back and forth main event Evo retained in what was a very strong match. She was then confronted by Rhio ahead of their title match at the next show at the union on November 20th-C4TCH: Captcha

A real good show from CATCH here, stories are nicely developing and I look forward to the next show.
