Indie Wrestling Stars As Marvel & DC Superheroes and Villains

For what it’s worth, wrestlers are basically superheros; they are normal people who can do seemingly impossible things, all for the entertainment of us fans.

But who would our favourite wrestlers play if they were cast in those big blockbuster, Netflix or Disney+ movies? Well we take a deep dive into our favourtie wrestlers and cast them ourselves.

Skye Smitson - The Incredible Hulk

Now, you may be thinking why we didn’t go for someone crazy ripped like Shreddy or Roy Johnson for this entry, but the beauty of Hulk is that most of the time he’s simply Bruce Banner, a more ‘average’ sized individual.

For that reason we’ve got for Skye, for the reason that she’s strong enough to begin with, but make her made and her strength becomes almost other-worldly. You won’t like her when she’s angry.

Leon Slater - Daredevil

In terms of a superhero name that completely suits a wrestler it’s got to be Daredevil and Leon Slater. A breakout star in British wrestling, Slater has spent the last year or so showing the world that he is not afraid to fly high and shock fans with his in-ring work.

Blair Onyx - Spider-Woman

I mean, is there any need to explain this one? Onyx is the greatest spider in indie wrestling and has an almost superhero look in herself. It’s nothing like the real Spider-Woman’s look but it’s still cool as hell.

Shreddy - Thing

We couldn’t leave Shreddy out could we, and so with Hulk already taken we went to Marvel’s next most OP hero. Shreddy is absolutely stacked - well it is in his name - and so is Thing. You wouldn’t want to be in a fight with either of them.

Kasey Owens - Wolverine

There were plenty of ‘wolves’ in wrestling we could’ve chosen from here, but we went for Kasey as we think the She-Wolves member is the one who best encapsulates everything that Wolverine is about.

She’s ferocious, wild and down right terrifying to come up against. We’ve not seen her wield any metal claws, but maybe that’s something for the future.

Charles Mason - Venom

The arch-nemisis of Spider-Man, Venom is someone who can sneak up on Spidey without warning, that’s basically his power. This is something Mason does very well, being very good at sneaking up on his opponents and attacking them without warning.

Alexxis Falcon - Phoenix/Dark Phoenix

The stories of Alexxis and Jean Grey are quite similar, in a way. Both already had strength and power until a big switch in persona saw them become almost invinceable. The ultimate hero became the ultimate villain almost overnight.

That’s exactly how Falcon seems at the moment, especially in TNT, it just doesn’t seem like there’s anyone that can stop her rise at the moment.

Ivy - Harley Quinn

She’s wild, wacky and a little insane - am I talking about Ivy or Harley Quinn? Well that’s the thing, it could be both. Ivy is a wrestler that usually has us on the edge of our seats, wondering what she’ll do next or how crazily she’ll act in the ring. Plus, she’s already got the baseball bat. Does that make Brady Phillips The Joker?

Charles Crowley - The Joker

Nah, we don’t think so. There’s only one person in indie wrestling crazy enough to be The Joker and that’s Crowley. He knows how to entertain and, for better or worse, that’s what Joker is able to do so effortlessly.

Ava White - Emma Frost

As well as the very striking visual similarity, Emma has the power to turn things into diamonds. This fits beautifully in with the fact that Ava is both a diamond of the scene and also one of the most glamorous stars in wrestling.
