13 Of The Best Up and Coming Wrestlers Around The World - Women’s History Month

MARCH is Women’s History Month and a chance to shine a spotlight on some of the incredible athletes that make wrestling so special.

I know that at Grapple Theory our focus tends to be on British wrestling, but there are some excellent wrestlers around the world that deserve more of the spotlight.

In this article we’re going to be shining that light on 12 of the best independent women’s wrestlers around the world - we know there are far, far more than 12 out there, so to keep it fair we’re limiting it to one per country. Let’s get started…

England - Safire

One of London’s finest up and coming talents, Safire has been making waves across the south. She made it onto Pro Wrestling: EVE last year and this year she’s got huge matches at the promotion in April and May against Kasey Owens and Billie Starkz respectively. It won’t be long before the whole of the UK and beyond knows about her talent.

Scotland - Ashley Vega

The Modern Day Diva is one for all of you that yearn for the asthetic of WWE’s Diva’s era. Vega is not only a brilliant wrestler, but also takes her ring gear inspiration from some of the more talented women from the late ‘90s and mid 2000s. She’s also pushing hard for a match with Mickie James - and we’d love to see that happen soon.

Ireland - Anita Vaughan

The wrestler from Cork always shines when she’s with her stable, The Saviours of Destiny, but she’s on the brink of something special and could have an incredible career as both a stable and solo wrestler if she’s given that one big break.

France - Mila Smidt

Say bonjour to this awesome Olympian turned pro wrestler who is making waves on the European scene. She’s a fierce competitor in the ring and someone that we’d love to see more over here in the UK.

Germany - Baby Allison

One of the most terrifying wrestlers in Europe today, Allison is cool as fuck but also majorly scary, we definitely wouldn’t want to be across the ring from her. Expect big things from the Witch Bitch of Wrestling.

Spain - Maria De La Rosa

Spain has got a really thriving and underrated pro wrestling scene, and wrestlers like Maria are a credit to how much talent there is in the country. She’s got a brilliant look and as a coach she’s also helping the next generation of Spanish wrestlers find their feet.

Switzerland - Michelle Green

Talk about putting in the work, Michelle Green has only been on the scene for a few years but has already been to America and across Europe. She recently made her debut in Germany’s wXw and if she keeps on this trajectory it won’t be long before she’s a well know name on the indie scene.

Finland - Regina

Regina is shining a light on the Finnish wrestling scene. She’s already broken out of her home country and into mainland Europe, and currently holds gold in Austria and Sweden. She’s got a bright future ahead of her far beyond Scandinavia.

Japan - AZM

You may have seen this 20-year-old sensation on Twitter, because she’s got a crazy impressive move set and is consistently putting on show stealing performances. She’s one of the up and coming gems of Stardom and we’d love to see her branch out beyond Japan.

Malaysia - Nor Diana

Moving into South East Asia, a hugely under-appreciated market in terms of indie wrestling but one that’s producing some incredible talent. We’d love to see Nor given a shot in Europe or America to really make her mark.

USA - Billie Starkz

Like Safire, who she’s facing at EVE in May, Billie is an up and coming star Stateside and has already made her mark in Japan as well. It’s gonna be awesome having her in the UK and it won’t be long until she’s know in most continents where indie wrestling thrives.

Canada - Nikita

At the time of writing Nikita is the women’s champion in Smash Wrestling, one of Canada’s biggest promotions. She’s got the world at her feet and if she gets a big break there’s potential for the whole of North America and beyond to see how good she is.

Australia - Jessica Troy

We end with a bit of a different name, because Troy is arguably one of the more well known names on this list. However, the fact she isn’t one of the biggest wrestlers in the world is baffling. She’s immensely talented and just needs that one big breakout moment.
