The Best British Indie Wrestling Show Names
WE ALL love a good wrestling show name! Even if the show has nothing to do with the name, it’s something that just adds a little bit of gravitas to proceedings.
There have been some truly epic show names over the years and in all honesty this list could go on for far too long. So, for the purposes of this article we’re keeping this list to Pandamic-Era shows and beyond.
What is your favourite wrestling show name?
PROGRESS Wrestling - Chapter 140: Wrestling. Golf. Madrid. In That Order
The show that inspired this list, an offering from PROGRESS that hasn’t happened yet but is set for over the weekend of WWE’s stadium show in Cardiff.
The name comes from the world of football and Real Madrid outcast Gareth Bale; who famously held up a sign that said Wales. Golf. Madrid, in that order.
Wrestling Resurgence - Bring Me The Mask of Cara Noir
The second Resurgence show of the Pandemic-era saw Charli Evans return to the company to defend her title against Cara Noir.
It was a show name that gave the show and subsequent main event an aura of something really special.
NORTH Wrestling - Just Remember….ALL CAPS!
NORTH Wrestling have a small problem - people keep forgetting to put their name in ALL CAPS!
To counteract this, NORTH even named their show ALL CAPS! And yet, when we spoke to Andrew Bowers, founder of Newcastle’s top wrestling company, he said people still manage to forget.
Tidal Championship Wrestling - Matinee at the Museum
A show set for the end of June, Tidal are putting on a heck of an afternoon show...but don’t expect Ben Stiller to be there.
Some of the exhibits may come to life though…
South West Wrestling - Shooting at the Walls of Heartache
‘Shooting at the walls of heartache, Bang, bang’ - what a banger!
A show that is literally just a couple of days away, from the time this article is published. SWWW have really hit the mark with this name, the song has been stuck in my head ever since reading it.
PROGRESS Wrestling - Chapter 123: The Taking of Peckham
The second Proggy entry on this list and one that works on so many levels. First off, this happened during the closed-taping era of PROGRESS which was being recorded in Peckham.
Then, working off the name of the popular film, The Taking of Pelham 123, the fact this was Chapter 123 was just delightful.
Pro-Wrestling: EVE - Fuck It, We’re Going Out
The Riot Grrrllls of Pro Wrestling make the list that perfectly encapsulates how we all felt going in 2022 after loads of lockdowns.
In fact, this show name is basically just the slogan of most people across the world in 2022.
Wrestle Island - This Is The Way
A trip to the Island offers up a Disney themed classic later this month. Maybe it’s my bias love of Star Wars but this is truly an epic name.
