The American Wrestlers We’re Thankful For This Thanksgiving

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

The annual American holiday is once again upon us and so is another chance for us to heap praise on some of the best indie wrestlers in the world.

Now, here are Grapple Theory we are always showcasing the best of BritWres. So in honour of Thanksgiving we’re going to instead list a few of the US stars we’re thankful for.

*We should note that we could’ve included any number of American wrestlers here but for the purposes of this list being a readable length we’ve kept it to eight names.

The Indiana native has spent the last three years making waves across the States and seems to finally be reaping the rewards.

She’s the current Girl Fight Champion and we don’t think it will be long before she’s holding even more gold! We’d love to see her do a tour over in the UK too (hint, hint).

Jonathan Gresham and Jordynne Grace

The undisputed power couple of American wrestling, Gresham and Grace are absolute powerhouses of the industry and both on fire this year!

Grace has been turning heads not just in wrestling but in powerlifting, where she’s breaking all kinds of records.

Meanwhile Gresham had an incredible 2021 in ROH and is now even putting on his own show, Terminus, in January.

Hyan

From one wrestler we’d love to see here to one that just finished a tour in the United Kingdom, Hyan shone during her time on our shores and made it clear why she’s one of the country’s most in demand stars.

The former Heart of Shimmer champion made her AEW Dark debut earlier this year and recently went up against Ruby Soho.

Everett Connors

Proof that the grind is well and truly worth it, Connors has spent the last seven years doing the rounds at various promotions across America. But, now it seems that his hard work is finally paying off.

A JCW and GCW regular, it won’t be long before he’s holding championship gold and perhaps even snapped up by a big promotion.

Also, he’s made BritWres favourite Charli Evans incredibly happy so he’s an ace in our books.

Bussy have been busy this year being one of the most awesome, outrageous and mind-blowing contests - both as a duo and individually.

These two are on the fast track to big things and given their current runs expect that sooner rather than later.

Sugar Dunkerton

Whether you know him as Suge D or Pineapple Pete, Dunkerton is one of the most likeable figures in wrestling at the moment.

Not just an outstanding performer but also a person who is constantly lifting those around him, calling out those that deserve it and being both hilarious and serious on social media.

Veda Scott

We’d love to have included Speedball Mike Bailey in this list too but alas he’s Canadian - but still amazing and we love him!

Meanwhile Veda Scott is absolutely killing it both in and out of the ring. We already knew she was a badass between the ropes, which she’s proved time and again this year.

But now she’s also becoming more and more well known for her excellent commentary skills, we can’t believe a major promotion hasn’t signed her up - be it for in ring work or her skills on the commentary desk.
