Pro Wrestling Chaos: Organised Chaos
Kings Oak Academy, Bristol

Reviewer: Iwan Mackenzie (@iwanmack)

So my day started off with me and Leighton arriving at our mate Paul’s house at around 10:30 in the morning as he was driving all of us to the show.

It was about a two-a-bit-hour journey into Kingswood Bristol that also included us picking up Mark from Bristol Parkway.

Got to the venue for 13:45 before the VIP doors for Paul, the actual venue is King’s Oak Academy which as you’d suspect is a school.

I’ve been to a few school halls for wrestling over the years but after so long, it was kind of odd at first but once we got into the venue at 14:25 (Wild Boar opened the doors early, god love him). Once inside the venue, I have  to say that I absolutely loved it.

It was a good, small room with tiered seating and not a bad view in sight if truth be told, with a walkway around the top and a good stage with a screen for entrance videos, it reminded me a lot of the London Cockpit and also Dublin’s Ringside Club. It will definitely be on the short list of best venue of the year.

Act Two were on bar duties and did that well that it was only alcoholic beverages left by the end. Also worth mentoring was how good the music was for the pre-show and interval with bangers like Party Hard, Miseria Cantera, Cult of Personality and Much Too Young amongst others. Salvia’s seminal hit Ladies and Gentleman was our opening theme for the show here.

Our host was Jade Walford who was excellent as per usual, one of the absolute best in the country and I also realised yesterday that I’ve never had a GrapsMeet with her, so Jade if you’re reading then we’ll need to organise this.

She introduced the commentary team of Flynn and Josh with their cracking mullets and then we got into our show.

Brendan White (c) vs Elijah - All Wales Championship Match

Credit: Pro Wrestling Chaos

So this is my first Chaos show but they’ve done a great job on social media filling people in with the backstories of this match and, in this case, the backstory was needed.

Brendan White won the All Wales back in February 2020 defeating the then Beano (Harrison Bennett), since then Dragon Pro has unfortunately folded and Brendan has remained as Champion so he’s brought the belt back into Chaos and claimed himself the ‘real champion’ of Chaos but hasn’t defended the belt as of yet.

In the case of Elijah though, he was once a villain to this audience as a part of The Brotherhood and was banished from Chaos following a loss back in 2018 but he’s been brought back, with a really good video summing up why he’s the best from Wales and wanted this match, so our roles for this match have been set up really well.

I’m happy to report that this was a really good match, both of these guys worked so well together as a duo, with the crowd lifting this as well, this crowd rocked all evening as well.

Brendan White is awesome as a bad guy, he’s great at mouthing off at the crowd and just looking like a beast when he’s throwing people around or dropping them on his knee.

Elijah, I have to say, looked really good here as the babyface, he looked so energised for this match as well, I think after many years as a heel, Elijah’s true calling is a face, he’s done so well in the role from what I’ve seen this year.

After much back and forth, it was Brendan getting the win here with the Ripcord Bossman Slam to retain the All-Wales Championship, much love to Elijah after by the crowd, really enjoyed this match and put in a good mood.

Dr. Pariah Khan Promo

After this we were introduced to Dr. Pariah Khan, who I’ve heard of but had never seen live before. This guy was absolutely over with the crowd, they were repeating his nicknames and catchphrases line for line, ‘Tye Die Gandalf’ got me.

He then cut this brilliant promo explaining his situation with Eddie Ryan, his history in Chaos with Jekel and had a picnic analogy that made my mouth water as he was describing cheese.

There was a fuck up with the microphone that he actually added into the promo and got fired up about it as well, I was blown away by how good this was.

Paul had told me that outside of wrestling Khan is a comedian and his delivery of this promo and his interaction with the audience was pitch perfect.

Khan called Eddie Ryan out to try and mend the issues they’d been having recently, Eddie called in via Facetime saying that he wasn’t there and wanted some space from Khan for the time being. Khan was distraught about this and said he felt weird about being a manager without a wrestler.

Tate Mayfairs vs Billy Haze (w/Jay Joshua)

Tate Mayfairs came out and his mic died off so he stole Jade’s one and in all fairness, with the crowd giving him shit, he used both mic’s to talk which was pretty brilliant.

He said that the people he represents would like to employ Khan’s services for the impending takeover of Chaos he keeps talking about and offered Khan to be front row to watch his match.

Billy stepped up to face Tate after Tate called out the whole roster on social media, Jay was also here to prevent any funny business.

Have to say as well, they built the story of Billy and Jay coming together as a team after their battles with mental health and how it’s okay to not be okay, a really strong message and something we can all get behind.

Onto the match itself, this was a really good match, both guys knew their roles so well here and everyone hated Tate and loved Billy. Really good, fast-paced action that didn’t feel like it affected the larger story.

At one point Tate humiliated Billy by mocking his outfit and then just kicking him up the arse, this fired up Billy and he kicked Tate up the arse in response with all the fury of Father Ted Crilly kicking Bishop Brennan.

He then dove onto Mayfairs as the crowd went wild plus, where I was sitting on the tiered seating, everytime people were clapping or stamping their feet, it would actually shake, a proper 4D experience.

Also worth mentioning, at one point Tate delivered a Coast to Coast Elbow Drop which received massive “This is Chaos” chants.

In the end, we had Tate retrieve this comically oversized Knuckle Duster and stuck it down his pants, Jay spotted it and tried to warn the Ref but behind the Ref Tate delivered the Power of the Punch with the weapon to get the win.

A good ending but very contrived is what I will say about it, but overall, another good match and a match that was a lot better than what I thought it would be going in.

Smokin’ Aces (Charlie Sterling & Nick Riley) (c) vs Destination: Everywhere (Michael Oku & Connor Mills) - Knights of Chaos Championship Match

Credit: Pro Wrestling Chaos

As soon as this was announced, I was so glad that I had brought a ticket. Smokin’ Aces (out to Misirlou by Dick Dale from Pulp Fiction) were so over being the hometown guys.

But because of how regularly we see them, our little group was firmly behind Destination: Everywhere with duelling chants through the match.

We had Nick start out with Mills and get the advantage early on, Oku tags in and doesn't have any further luck with Nick so he tags Mills back in.

Smokin’ Aces took a lot of this match in the early goings, it wasn't really until Mills decided he had enough and started to strike Riley and then later Sterling that the match swung in D:E’s favour - and from there this match just built and built.

We eventually got into our crazy double teams and dives, with a few things not going the way it was meant to but it didn’t affect this match too much, also the kickout’s and nearfalls were excellent.

Mills went hell for leather towards the end of this match, attacking Sterling’s knee and damaging it before he tagged into Oku and demanded he lock in the Half Crab before taking care of Riley outside, Oku looked reluctant to do this but did lock it in.

Outside Riley broke free from Mills and hit him with a Backdrop on the Apron and then ran into Superkick Oku, Sterling hit the Cutter before they delivered the Assisted Piledriver to get the win here.

Afterwards, Oku shakes their hands, Mills kicks their hands away and just walks away with Aces telling Oku to go as well and put some sense into his mate.

Overall, an excellent tag match, the crowd was so into this and all four put in an absolute shift, one of the best matches I’ve seen all year.

Mulligan vs Harrison Bennett

Bennett’s music hit and after a little bit both Bennett and Mulligan came out fighting through the doors and brawled all around ringside before entering up the bleachers still fighting.

At one point Mulligan threatened to throw Bennett off the top of the seating all the way down but Bennett escaped, he also threw in a cheeky low blow whilst this fighting was going on.

They fought all the way round, eventually made it to the stage where Bennett was looking to drill Mulligan down to the Floor but Tate Mayfairs ran in through the emergency doors and attacked Bennett allowing Mulligan to recover and then Chokeslam Bennett through Jade’s table at ringside which exploded upon impact, what a visual.

He threw Bennett back in the ring, the actual bell was rung, 1-2-3 and Mulligan was the victor here. This was more of an extended segment than a match really with the actual match length probably being the shortest I’ve seen this year (Gene Munny vs Tim Lee gave it a go) but this did a really good job, though Bennett looked good as the gutsy babyface and Mulligan had a lot of presence as the Big Guy, enjoyed this overall.

Harley Hudson vs The AVA

Credit: Pro Wrestling Chaos

So due to Injury Dani Luna vacated the Maiden of Chaos Championship at the last show and instead of crowning a new champion right away Chaos are bringing new women in to build the division and build towards a new champion. This was a debut for both Ava and Hudson.

A kid called Ava “Charlotte Flair” when she came out, with some Charlotte chants being thrown in from then on, including our chat of “You’re Charlotte from Wish” which got a laugh and also a ‘Primark Princess’ chant from another kid. Also, Hudson’s nicknames are fantastic.

Overall this was a pretty good match, thought both women worked well here and like most of the matches on this card the crowd knew who to cheer and boo for.

Harley Hudson really did shine here, I’ve seen her three times now and every time she’s really showcased herself well, she needs to be on EVE shows I feel.

We had Harley get the win here with a Roll-Up on Ava, Ava attacked her afterwards and hit the Neutralizer before Tate Mayfairs and Mulligan walked out and introduced Ava as the new member of their group, leaving Harley to recover from the beatdown.

Danny Jones (c) vs Yota Tsuji - King of Chaos Championship

Credit: Pro Wrestling Chaos

This was the match that sold me on going to the show, I’ve been a big fan of Yota since he came to the UK and I’ve said for the last five years that Danny Jones is underrated; he’s a great wrestler and with this also being (technically) NJPW vs AJPW, this had my interest.

Unlike the rest of the matches of this show, the crowd was split here with Danny taking a majority of the support but Yota had a lot of support here.

They locked up and were forced to break it, however when Yota broke it he then delivered this thunderous Chop across Danny’s chest that rung through the whole venue and the crowd went wild as Danny gave one back.

These two just went hell for leather from here on out; they fought outside, even Yota tried to catch a break but Danny just chopped him there as well, this felt like a fight and the championship felt important.

This was just enthralling to watch, the action never got boring at all, the work here was brilliant, it was Jones though in the end who got the win following the Piledriver to take Tsuji down.

This was my match of the night and one of the best I’ve seen all year long, get this watch when it hits VOD.

I loved this show everything was very well run and organised, thought the venue was great, there were no matches on this show that I didn’t get some enjoyment out of and most of all.

Both Smokin’ Aces vs Destination: Everywhere and Danny Jones vs Yota Tsuji are two of the best matches I’ve seen all year round from live shows.

I was very impressed with Chaos and I will be back sooner rather than later, plus as a wrestling fan in London, shows outside of London finishing at 18:00 are a big bonus.
