In a last minute venue change, CATCH Captcha was held in the Salford Students Union which had a really up close and personal feel to it and I hope they consider keeping the venue as a more permanent home.
Pre-Show Match: Lucia Lee vs Ivy w/ Ruby Radley
To get things started Lucia Lee, whose popularity is increasing every time she steps through the curtain, took on self proclaimed Queen Of The Monsters Ivy.
This was a great match to warm things up with ivy having the upper hand most of the time thanks to having her long time tag partner ringside to watch on, this didn’t stop Lee from displaying some great offence.
However, this wasn’t enough and thanks to the underhanded tactics from both Radley and Ivy with the latter picking up the win.
Brady Phillips vs Chris Ridgeway
Yeah, you read that right, they opened with this match and boy, did it deliver!
I won’t go too much into this because it has to be seen to be believed. When the show drops on the on demand go out of your way to watch this.
Punches, slaps and kicks that could probably be heard from two streets away as well as some amazing technical wrestling too.
Top stuff and a fantastic way to open the show with Ridgeway picking up the win. But, that didn’t stop people coming away from it talking about how Brady Phillips is though, and rightly so the guy is a star.
The CR3W vs Made To Last & Jesse Wolfe
This match, featured the debuts of six competitors. three of which made their presence felt by attacking Mr. Charles Crowley at Catch 3, after they had had enough of his antics (The CR3W).
Up against them would be the team of Jesse Wolfe and Made To Last. This was a fast paced tag match, with the crowd firmly behind The CR3W who were very impressive throughout.
However, it was not their night as Jessie Wolfe picked up the win for his team in the only way he can, cheating. Even Made To Last had had enough of those antics, after the match they sent Wolfe packing and showed some appreciation and respect towards The CR3W.
Harley Hudson vs Heidi Katrina
Harley Hudson is someone who I have been impressed with since shows returned earlier this year and pitting her against Heidi Katrina was sure to bring fireworks.
For me this was a dark horse for MOTN contention. Real in your face back and fourth action and definitely a match you need to check on the on demand once it drops.
Both knew what was at stake, a tick in the winners column for the victor. On this night, Katrina picked up the win, which also marked her first win in CATCH. This is a match I’d love to see again!
Lizzy Evo vs Rhio - Catch Women’s Championship
The self proclaimed ‘Scouse Goddess’ Lizzy Evo was back on the other side of the M62 to defend the CATCH Women’s Championship.
Standing in her way this time? The Equaliser, Rhio. This was everything you wanted and more. But would you expect anything less?
Put simply, this was two of the best in the country having a good scrap. Who came out on top though? Well, after referee James Greenwood didn’t see Rhio’s foot under the rope, in what some are calling the Scouse Screwjob, Evo retained and marches on.
Something tells me, this isn’t over yet though….
Chantal Jordan vs Alexxis Falcon w/ JJ Webb
The second half started off with a rematch that everyone wanted to see. Falcon, Jordan one-on-one. With the added stipulation that if Jordan won, she would get five minutes in the ring with JJ Webb.
After costing her a place in the women’s title final match at CATCH 2 she had her eyes on the prize and after a match that delivered on all accounts she picked up the win.
However, Webb had decided he'd had enough and scarpered away. In response to this, Jordan challenged him to a Lumberjack Match at a future show!
Dynamite Lee vs Joe Kessler vs Scotty Rawk vs Joey Hayes
It’s worth noting that this match was for the number one contendership to the Catchweight Championship, so the winner of this match would either go on to face Kevin Lloyd or Tom Thelwell at a future show.
This was fast paced and you didn’t know where to look with every competitor knowing exactly what was at stake. However, coming out on top was the lad from a small town called Grimsby aka Scotty Rawk.
Fantastic stuff this and definitely a match you need to check out.
Tom Thelwell vs Kevin Lloyd - Catchweight Championship
This was the culmination of three shows at the Bread Shed in Manchester to determine who would be crowned the first ever Catchweight champion.
Kevin Lloyd and Tom Thelwell put it all on the line and I’m going to keep it short and sweet because again this match needs to be seen to be believed.
Thelwell picked up the win and therefore became the first ever CATCHweight champion!
This was a great way to round off a fantastic show and I’m looking forward to seeing what CATCH have in store for us next!
