Matches We NEED to See in 2024

2023 had some stand out matches, some amazing wrestling and some tremendous rivalries. However, with the depth of talent we have here on the British scene there are still a host of first time ever matches, feud concluding matches and epic rematches that we’d love to see.

Here at Grapple Theory myself and the team have compiled a list of matches we’d love to see happen in 2024…

Nina Samuels vs Safire Reed - Last Woman Standing

Now, this match may already be in the works. Safire and Nina have been at odds ever since Saf debuted in EVE. But, at every turn, Nina has had her number. The star of the Nina Samuels Show is currently 2-0 against the Radioactive One and most recently beat her at EVE’s Multiverse Rumble to win the company’s top title.

These two seem destined for a long-running feud and the conclusion should absolutely be something brutal like a Last Woman Standing clash, perhaps at WrestleQueendom or She-1. Something to really put a flourish on what has already been an amazing rivalry.

Levi Muir vs Michael Oku - RevPro British Heavyweight Championship

Levi Muir touts himself as ‘London’s Finest’ but the current undisputed king on London is Michael Oku. Oku currently holds gold in not only RevPro but also in Riot Cabaret and Purpose.

Muir has really broken out in RevPro this year and is surely on course for a title shot somewhere down the line. With the history that he and Oku have, coming up together and training together, it’s surely just a matter of time before they meet for the top prize.

Charli Evans vs Kanji - Wrestling Resurgence

Still to this day one of the greatest feuds the amazing team at Resurgence have ever put together, Chevs and Kanji went hell for leather when they met at the Leicester-based promotion.

I think we need to run it back and surely I can’t be the only one! This rivalry was historic and really cemented both women as two of the absolute best on the scene. If Resurgence do take a trip down memory lane and put this match on in 2024 it would be incredible.

Nico Angelo vs Jay Joshua - ATTACK! Pro Wrestling Championship

Eagle-eyed fans would have noticed that these two have ALREADY gone one-on-one in 2024, at the British Kingdom Pro-Wrestling events. But we want to see it in Wales, we want to see it at ATTACK! and we want to see it for the top title.

Fans were, unsurprisingly, buzzing about the match that had a couple of weeks ago and who can blame them. These two are a couple of Wales’ finest exports and are tearing up the scene. But imagine the frenzy if this took place on home turf, in front of that wild ATTACK! crowd.

LA Taylor vs Lana Austin - PROGRESS

Now, we don’t want to stir the pot between the Lana Austin Experience members but it’s no secret that there has been tension between the LAE in recent months. The introduction of Rob Drake certainly hasn’t pleased LA and with her stock rising around the country we think she’s ready to usurp Lana as the top dog in Proggy.

If we do see this match it will surely determine a challenger for Rhio’s PROGRESS title. The only question left would be….whose side would Skye Smitson fall on?

Leon Slater vs Clint Margera - NORTH Wrestling Championship

Leon has been a shining star of 2023 and with his future focussed in North America now this is the year for him to really test whether he can do the job both at home and abroad at the same time.

How better to test himself than a battle with fellow NORTH champ Clint. The combination of styles here is something I’d be fascinated to see. It would be great to see how Clint counters Leon’s high flying, and whether Leon would be willing to bring out a more violent side to match Clint’s aggression.

CPF vs The Velocities - literally anywhere

Let’s bring Jude London and Paris De Silva back to the UK as soon as possible and give them this absolute belter of a match. I bloody love high flying action and this contest would be as high flying as they come.

Two of the best and most agile teams in the world at the moment and two who deserve a big spotlight shone on them moving forward. Somebody, anybody, make it happen.

Emersyn Jayne vs Sawyer Wreck - TNT Extreme Wrestling/GCW

Credit: @nachochezz

Let’s add a deathmatch to the list shall we? Emersyn has cemented herself as one of the best deathmatch wrestlers in the country, while on the other side of the pond Sawyer Wreck has done exactly the same.

Surely it’s only a matter of time before these two square off in a bloody and brutal battle? And it surely has to take place in GCW or TNT…or both? Two matches, why not!

Grizzled Young Veterans vs SubCulture - Pro Wrestling Chaos

With GYV back on the scene and with a point to prove, who better for them to go up against than the team who have, arguably, been the best in the country this year.

Not only is it former WWE stars all going up against each other once again but it’s two teams who have developed and improved so much since the last time they met, way back in 2020.

Rayne Leverkusen vs Dani Luna - RevPro Women’s Championship

Credit: @blueradical/@rayneleverkusen

Any look at social media will show you that Rayne and Dani have a great friendship. But sometimes friendships need to be put aside in the quest to determine who is the best in the ring.

We can’t wait to see Rayne return from injury and when she does I think she needs to go after Dani’s RevPro Women’s title. Now, this match could also take place in Wales and would be great, but I think RevPro is where we’d really like to see this contest.
